What the EGU says ...

Hermeston delights his home fans with title double

Jack Hermeston was in a class of his own at South Moor in County Durham, dominating the McGregor Trophy virtually throughout and winning the English boys under 16 championship, supported by FootJoy, at a canter.

A closing 70 for 281, seven under par, left him four strokes ahead of Scotland’s Bradley Neil, who also returned a closing 70, and six clear of the rest of the field.
He also collected the under 15 title, a unique double, and he did it all in front of his home fans, many of them from his home club of City of Newcastle.
Hermeston is a very unflappable character but he admitted: “I’m overwhelmed. I’ve achieved my target for the year to win this title and the support I’ve had, especially today, has been amazing.
“I only live 20 minutes from South Moor and words can’t describe how I feel to win in front of a home crowd. It’s probably the biggest crowd I’ve played before and that played a key role in my success.”
