Seniors Section Membership
The Men's Senior Section was formed in May 1974 with the creation of the Northumberland Senior Golf League. Club members are eligible to join the section aged 60 years & over on payment of a nominal subscription - currently £5.00 per annum.
The section in addition to participation in twelve league matches play in four drawn competitions during the year, namely; 'Joe Farley Salver', 'Bill Elder Classic' 'Seniors Championship' & the 'Xmas Trophy'. The winner of each competition receives a trophy & a bottle prize - other prizes for those finishing in the top ten with a light bite provided.
The league matches are challenging and enjoyable - an opportunity to play different courses a feature. At the end of the matches players socialise and enjoy a free meal. The 'Team Sheet' is posted on the notice board in the locker rm. At the end of the season a 'Field Day' is held at a host club, teams competing for a number of category prizes. The City team played competitively finishing 3rd in both 2008 & 2009. This year's competition will be hosted by Stocksfield Golf Club - details posted on the notice board.
Members meet informally each Tuesday & Thursday morning to play a round of golf & is an excellent format for meeting new members. Stories emerging from the locker room are legend - aces, eagles & birdies galore. Interested members meet at the locker room at 08.00.
