JUNIOR SECTION

May we take this opportunity to welcome new members to the club and to mention to you and those members who have not yet attained a handicap, how this can be achieved. The Club is committed to providing a safe and healthy environment for juniors in promoting the game of golf.

A subsidised coaching scheme will operate, alongside the Junior Academy, for all juniors. It is recommended that members take part in regular organised coaching with our residential professional, Steve McKenna and his team. Coaching, using your “voucher” can be one to one, or in group sessions using the Academy. To use either scheme, please see Steve or add your name to one of the coaching session sheets.  It is recommended that you use the practice area in order to attain a reasonable standard of competence. We also expect that you become familiar with the rules of golf. Booklets are Available on request.

Should you have any difficulty in teaming up with other juniors, please contact, Steve McKenna, Lew Nainby (Junior Organiser), or Zac Laws (Junior Captain).

To obtain a handicap you will need to submit three cards recording scores over 6 or 9 holes (scores cards to be marked by a member aged 18 or over). The cards submitted to the Club Manager or myself will then be adjusted to an 18 hole score.

To play in any competition a junior member must have a handicap. To play in a senior competition a handicap of 28 or below is required. Juniors with a Club handicap (29-54 for boys, 37 to 54 for girls) can play in any junior competition.

Get a handicap and get involved in competitions this summer.

In an endeavour to integrate new members, a draw will be made for all “Summer Cup Competitions”. This we hope will encourage greater participation and assist new members to get to know more established juniors and to learn from their experiences.
