Clowne

Clowne lost the toss on another wet day and were put into bat. Lowton went for a duck but Steers progressed with the support of Kinsey . Joe fell to the spinner trying to hook. Hendley came and went run out which brought forward Linacre. Both were hitting well and Steers was hitting well with 3 conseq. 4’s when he went down the pitch and the bowler had him stumped(29) Twigg came and went for 1. Up stepped Greveson and played a watching brief for Linacre who was stroking the ball around. Greveson upped the pace and hit a couple of good fours whilst Linacre repeated the other end. Greveson fell to the spinner for 18.Partnership of 38. Linacre followed soon after for a good 36 leaving the tail to bat out for 127. Pick of the bowlines S Esward 10-3-11-1 A good effort given the conditions.

127 all out

Whittaker and Greveson opened and Whittaker had Esward caught 2nd over and Greveson not to be outdone clean bowled Weightman 2nd over. Whittaker returned 5-0 15-1 a good effort. Steers juggled a good catch to give Greveson (7-1-21-2) his second. Wood gave a good display 5-1-9-1 and Kinsey took a blinding catch at mid on. Steers at the other end was a quick as ever and clean bowled 6 and 7.The bails flew further than the batsmen were hitting!. Kinsey was struggling with the wet ball but picked up a wicket with the cobra like reflexes of Hendley taking a slip catch. The captain (Linacre) came on lead by example and returned a splendid 7.2-2-7-3. Matt Lowton deserves mention for excellent keeping and took a good catch off Linacre who was putting in extra effort to defy his years and was bowling with genuine pace and lots of movement. Teversal put up the shutters 5 overs from the end but Linacre took the middle peg of the L Weightman in the last over to secure victory. A brilliant effort.

109 all out.
