Clowne Town Get Fighting Draw Against Denby!

Phil Bennett's touch with the coin returned as he won the toss and asked Denby to bat in the second's most important game since clinching promotion. However the second's as usual were hampered this time with the unavailability of 3 crucial bowlers.
Steve Bennett started well as he removed the Denby openers and number 4 batsmen Wood to leave the visitors in trouble on 50 for 3. However once Bennett and Jamie Fellows had bowled there opening spells the replacement bowlers couldn't match their line and length and A Payne and D Cherry took advantage for Denby adding another 150 for the fourth wicket as Greveson 6-0-36-0, Mallen 6-0-34-0 and Hibbard 6-1-35-0 bore the brunt of the punishment. Jamie Fellows fared little better when he returned and ended with 14-2-75-1he did pick up the crucial wicket of Payne(62) however, securing a valuable second bonus point. Pick of the bowlers as ever was Steve Bennett 14-4-29-4 as Denby made 220 for 5 off their 46 overs.

In reply Phil Bennett returned to partner Chris Hendley at the top of the order. Bennett was first to fall to a questionable LBW decision as Clowne got off to the worst possible start. Paul Thompson and Chris Hendley put together a useful 50 partnership before Thompson was bowled for by S Mclarke for 26. However Hendley continued on his turgid way and was ably supported by Steve Bennett(12), Mark Osborne(19) and Graham White(11 not out) as Clowne easily held on for the draw. Chris Hendley top scored with a fighting 51 not out and pick of the bowlers was D Sharp 9-2-23-2.
