Clowne Town V Riddings
Clowne Town Taken For A Ride! 23/08/03 At Clowne
Phil Bennett lost the toss and Clowne were asked to bat first by Riddings skipper Sweeting. D Fenn, the fastest bowler seen for quite sometime by the seconds, opened the bowling for Riddings against Bennett and Chris Hendley. Bennett having made 3 fell to other opener Skull as the habitual early collapse began, this time it was Barton and Matt Linacre who followed the skipper back to the hutch Fenn striking twice. Gary Hibbard joined Hendley and the two put together something of a partnership before D Hargreaves removed Hendley caught behind with the score on 47. Steve Bennett added a quickfire 16 as Clowne briefly threatened but 3 quick wickets soon put an end to the revival. A cameo innings of 26 with a couple of big sixes from Mark Osborne took Clowne over the 100 mark before they were bowled out for 116. Top scorer was the excellent Hibbard whose 36 belied his long lay off from the game.
Clowne Town 116 All Out.
In reply Riddings were rarely troubled by the Clowne attack after Sweeting was dropped by Phil Bennett diving away to his left. The two wickets that were taken fell both bowled to Steve Bennett, C Pass for 22 and J Mcguiness for 2. Sweeting continued his prolific season at the other end ending with 61 not out though he was lucky to get away with a couple of ugly thrashes across the line at Jamie Fellows. J Shipman was the other not out batsman finishing on 26 as Riddings cantered to the total in a little over 20 overs.
Riddings 120 - 2.
A sound beating albeit by a good side lets hope they can do us a favor and repeat the dose on Old Park on Saturday, and that we can regain our early season form.
