Clowne Town Given Clip Round The Ear!
29/06/03
At Clowne

Clowne won the toss and put top of the table Clipstone in to bat on a very hot afternoon. Fellows opened the bowling from the top end with a maiden over with Matthew Osborne bowling from the other end. At the end of the 10th over Clipstone had put on 41 for no wicket. Osborne was replaced by Joseph Kinsey making his debut for the third team this season and took a wicket in his first over when John Hendley took a sharp catch in the slips to dismiss Tebbett for 33 .
Greveson replaced Jamie and in his second over removed the other opener for 9 again caught by Hendley at gully. This slowed the run rate and Kinsey took another wicket in the 17th over to have Clipstone on 66 for 3. B Hallam was batting well, and he and L Tebbett moved the score onto 104 before White who had replaced Kinsey ( 6.0.38.2 ) had Tebbett 22 caught by Osborne in his second over and promptly took the next wicket with a sharp caught and bowled off the last ball of the same over to have figures of 2 for 0.
Greveson continue to bowl his 10 overs finishing with 10.1.35.1 before Fellows was returned to the attack wickets continued to fall as Clipstone tried to up the scoring rate with White ( 7.3.24.3 ) and Fellows ( 10.2.29.2 ) both taking more wickets. Osborne who returned to the attack came in for a little punishment and finished with ( 7.1.33.0 ) Clipstone finished the innings on 168 for 8 with B Hallam scoring 60 off 60 balls.

Clipstone 168 for 8 off 40 overs.

Clowne’s reply started brightly with 8 coming off the first 2 overs when Jamie skied an intended drive into the covers. He was soon followed in the 5th over by Osborne lbw with the score on 15. This brought the inform batsmen of Paul Thompson and Adam White to the crease. They started to consolidate the innings and Thompson (12) was starting to score freely when he was bowled trying to pull a short ball which kept low.
Rachell Gibbs (0) came in and was lbw to a full pitched ball and she was quickly followed by Danny Ashley bowled (0). This brought steady Phil Bennett to the crease and with the score at 23 for 5 the brakes were well and truly applied. For the next 11 overs this pair put on 30 runs before Phil (10) fell to a diving catch in the slips. Joseph Kinsey in at 8 stayed with Adam for 6 overs before being bowled for 0. The wickets began to fall at regular intervals with Hendley (0) and then White (49) leaving the last pair of Greveson and Askew at the crease with 11 balls left, unfortunately Askew fell to what looked like a diving catch in the slips but it was later confirmed by the umpire that he had given him out lbw.

Clowne Town 101 all out off 39.2 overs

Clipstone beat Clowne by 67 runs.
