Clowne Town Edged out by Rolleston in the Cup!
22/06/03
At Clowne

Clowne won the toss and elected to bat on another hot day in Clowne. They opened the batting with Ben Holmes and Adam White who has been in fine form for the seconds over the past month. Both batsmen looked in fine form until White fell to one which popped and he was caught at mid wicket for 16. Holmes then fell to a great diving catch at cover for 19 after looking set to score a big score, not for the first time this season. Linacre was then next to go after one just carried to gully for 4. In vcame the out of form Andrew Smalley, howver he proved that form is temporary but class is permanent with a fine knock of 45 which kept Clowne Town in the game. He was supporyted well ny Paul Thompson (18), Matthew Osbourne (12) and the big hitting of Dale Steers who eventually fell for 24. Joseph Kinsey then added 6* before the Clowne Innings was brought to an end in the last over when Pollard was bowled for 1. Pick of the Rolleston bowlers was Rice who finisged with 4-34.

Clowne 183 All out.

In reply Rolleston started slowly however they gradually increased the run rate as the number of overs increased. Neil Pollard bowled with good accuracy and swing and was rewarded with the wickets of Widdows (15) and Bryan (42) finishing with figures of 2-32 from his 10 overs. Steers who opened the bowling from the other end also bowled well working up a good pace and got the wicket of Marshall who batted well for 44, Steers finished with 1-29 off 10 overs. 50 runs were required off the last 10 overs however Rolleston had wickets in hand and therefore had the chance to hit out Statham added a 25 before Wackfield came to the wicket and won the game for Rolleston scoring 27 off just 11 balls. This was harsh on the Clowne Town who bowled and fielded well throughout the Rolleston innings. However this is a young side who will learn from this experiance and come back stronger in the future.
If the boys can take this performance into the rest of the games this season they will soon be back to winning ways!

Rolleston 186-5
