Tibshelf V Clowne Town 14/06/03
Sorry Clowne Turned over By Tibshelf! 14/06/03 At Tibshelf
Clowne won the toss and elected to put Tibshelf into bat on a strange looking pitch, however full credit to the Tibshelf boys the pitch played very well throughout the whole game.
Again Dave Swannack (2-41)opened trhe bowling for the Clowne Team and bowled with good pace, and he was well supported by Young fast bowler Dale Steers (2-22) who was making his first appearance for the first 11 since injuring his side. However the second string bowlers with the exception of Long (2-26) struggled to get to grip with the task in hand. Kinsey was out of sorts going for 33 off 2 overs, so was Pollard going for 19 off 3 and Linacre was also expensive going for 55 off 12. However Tideswell was in good form and dispatched the Clowne attack around the park in a fine 86. He was supported throughout his innings by Matthews (15), Beard (26), Bush (14) and Flint (15). Else also made a telling contribution with a quick fire 22 from the last 5 overs taking Tibshelf past the 200 mark. .
Tibshelf 201-7 Again Another Disappointing Performance with the exception of Swanny and Dale, and needs to be improved!!!!!
With the batting proving to be below par this season Clowne made changes to the batting line up with Glynn Long and Ben Holmes opening the innings. However yet again the Clowne batsman were exposed by some tight bowling by the Tibshelf attack. Long fell for 14 hitting one straight down the throat of deep extra cover, claiming that he did not see him. Next to go was Holmes for 12 being bowled by an inswinging Yorker from Matthews. Wright was then next to fall first ball to a similar sort of ball. The Clowne Wickets fell at regular intervals with only Linacre (18), Osborne (16) and Steers (24) offering any resistance, in another terrible batting display. All the Tibshelf bowlers contributed with Matthews (4-27), Else (3-39), Kyte (1-15 and Kemp (2-8) all taking wickets.
Clowne Town 107 all out With 2nd Team players in Form Changes Look Likley for the Games next week!
After leaving the ground the Clowne Lads called in at one of the locals in Tibshelf for a quick one expecting the Tibshelf lads to arrive however a mix up must have occured and we reckon we got the wrong pub. We then left and went back to the club, which was buzzing with the 2nd team who again won with a number of players making telling performances Indicating some will come up into the 1st team next week. Steve Bennett was making his first appearance out this season and soon settled into the drinking culture which now exists among the senior players, good for the bar but maybe not for fitness. After leaving the club we then made the now regular walk down into Clowne with our first port of call the Welfare, with no Rhodes out the lads were taking it easy. However Chigger by all accounts was a little worse for ware claiming to be very tired. Swanny was up to his usual tricks while talking to Chalkies bird, well talking to her chest anyway. This was before he did his now famous drinking a pint of beer on his head trick which went down a treat with the locals. After the pubs Phil B Steve B Swanny and Chig all went back to Ryans. Chig failed to notice the very nice wooden floors and stairs and came a cropper having gone upstairs to the toilet, slipped on the first step and fell all the way down the stairs, his screams of pain and laughter could be heard throughout the house to the amusement of everybody else. And apparently so was his snoring, but I cant believe that!
