Clowne won the toss and Phil Bennett asked Riddings to bat first on a dry pitch. Openers Sweeting and Pass made a fluent start before Steve Bennett had Sweeting well caught down the leg side by Keeper Mark Osborne. Dave Keys(8-3-28-1) came on first change replacing Dale Steers (10-3-32-0) and he was soon in the action having Pass caught, again by Osborne. Gillot and Lowe then put together a decent partnership before Russ Doughty was brought into the attack to try and turn the tide in a game which was slipping away, Riddings were 125-2 at drinks and looking set for a score of around 275. Doughty firstly bowled Gillot for 27 and then had the dangerous Booth well caught by Adam White. The big fast bowler then took an excellent caught and bowled to get rid of Lowe for a well made 66. The returning Steve Bennett (142-52-2) chipped in bowling P Fenn for 4 before Doughty completed the wicket taking bowling R Fenn and taking another caught and bowled to remove Gretton ending with figures of 10-0-46-5.The other bowler used was the out of form Jamie Fellows (4-0-34-0). Riddings ended on 221-5.
