Clowne Town U15s Lose Against Chesterfield.
07/05/03
At Queens Park

Clowne came into the game without their main player Dale Steers. On a lovely sunny night Clowne won the toss and elected to field.

M.Linacre and J.Kinsey opened the bowling but both failing to take a single wicket quite a change from their performances at the weekend. M.Linacre finished with figures of 5-1-27-0 and J.Kinsey 3-1-14-0. This brought J.Womble and C.Cook on. Calvin bowled a little to short but a good line finishing with figures of 2-0-14-0. Josh bowled well and got the batsmen pushing at it and it was him that got the break through bowling a turning leg-break which was brilliantly caught at mid-off by Joseph Kinsey. He then deservedly got another wicket an L.BW. He finished with figures of 5-1-21-2. Then came on Adam Wright or Hayley, as he is otherwise known as. He bowled his slow, accurate medium pacers which were very effective. He bowled consistently and finished with figures of 5-0-10-4.

Clowne were set a total of 89. A good effort in the field from everyone.

Clowne opened with M.Linacre and M.Parker who was clean bowled second ball. This brought the captain to the crease who hung around and played just like his coach until he was caught behind from a beamer which he didn’t quite get hold of ending with 6. M.Linacre was run out 2 overs before for 3. This sparked the collapse M.Lowton was bowled first ball and S.Houghton was caught for 2. Then entered J.Womble and G.Wood who battered well and was bowled for 12. Josh was hoping to build on his 47 from Sunday and battered well for 31. A.Wright was out second ball for 4 and L.Onion soon followed first ball for 0. This left Calvin and R.Norman in at the end Calvin finishing with 2* and R.Norman 2*.

Overall a bad batting display which needs to improve to stand a chance of winning the league..
