Clowne Town V Old Park
Clowne Town Collapse Against Old Park. 04/05/03 At Clowne
Another day, another game, another appalling batting collapse. Clowne won the toss and captain Phil Bennett had a brainstorm and decided to bat first, this proved to be a massive error as on a wet pitch the ball misbehaved in spectacular fashion. Wicket after wicket fell as despite some ordinary bowling the Old Park bowlers had Clowne reeling at 15-6. Keys and White showed admirable resistance and tried to add respectability to the score but as soon as they tried to up the rate and both fell as Clowne slumped to 40 all out. Pick of the bowling were Addis(10-4-15-3), Shelton (10-3-9-3) and Hill (7.4-4-3-4).
Clowne 40 all out
Despite some accurate bowling Clowne were never in it Keys (5-1-14-1), Doughty (6-2-12-1), Parsons (3.5-0-8-0) and Ashley (3-1-3-1) all gave it their best but had no chance with the lack of runs to play with. Old Park finished on 41-4 to clinch a comfortable win.
Old Park 41-4
Another hugely disappointing display from Clowne's batsmen, the only bright spots in the day were a fine tea made by Jackie Osborne and an encouraging display by young wicketkeeper Stuart Houghton whose run out throwing down the non strikers end from behind the stumps proved to be the only piece of inspired cricket Clowne could produce on another shocking day.
Old Park win by 6 wickets
Points 2 - Clowne
22 - Old Park
