At At Cuckney
Matthew Linacre captain for the day because the captain was playing for the first team won the toss and elected to field first. It turned out to be a nice day for a game of cricket. Luke Mallen opened the bowling but was a bit scrappy in is first over but the fielders gave him some support and got it back and got the wicket Clowne needed to start the game off. Darren Greavson from the opposite end bowled his line and length but couldn’t get a wicket. Matt Linacre came on for Luke at the opposite end from Darren and bowled well and got the second wicket. Then matt Linacre come up with a run out of Josh Wombles bowling who gained confidence throughout the game. It came to drinks and it didn’t look good when Cuckney was just over 100 for 3.
After the drinks it looked a bit better when Luke Mallen came back on and got another wicket. Then there was josh who came and got 2 wickets in the space of 3 overs. Matt Linacre came back onto bowl when Luke bowled all his ten overs out (10-23-2). He sparked the team into life by getting another 3 wickets which left only 1 to get. It came down to the last 4 overs of there innings when Darren came on to bowl his last 2 overs with matt Linacre keeping the runs down at the other end. Matt Linacre wanting his senior cap when Darren got the last wicket with 2 overs to spare. They got 145 all out and we got 2 extra overs.

At tea the team’s spirits were high with everyone focused on the Clowne innings. Matt Linacre and Matt Lowton opened the batting and thought it was going to be a hard run chase but they got on with it and got off to a good start getting 10 off the first over. The second over didn’t go to bad when Clowne was 12 for no wicket. Then the drastic happened Matt Lowton got caught at point for only 4 runs. Matt Linacre wasn’t far behind after getting 3 superbly struck 4s after only getting 12. John Hendly and josh held the game up for a bit but not for long when john watched his off stump go flying after only getting 4. It didn’t get any better when Darren got a LBW decision for a golden duck. Dave Lowton and Josh Womble looked comfortable batting together who put on a 32 partnership. Then the game turned again Dave got out for only 9 and Richard askew only got 7 before he got cleaned bowled. Lee onion stopped in for about 5 overs putting an extra 11 to the board. Joe wall came in to hold an end up but josh didn’t stay long after getting bowled from a superb in swinger getting a massive 47 it then wasn’t long until the game was over Joe got out for a duck so did Luke Mallen and Rachel Gibbs was the last one standing with 1. We made a total of 130 which was superb effort.
