Club Newsletter
Issue 1 January 2003
This is the first newsletter for some time and I hope to produce more through the season. However the cost of postage etc. could be prohibitive.
One way of reducing the costs and still keeping everyone updated with regular news would be to email the newsletter to all members who have access to the net. Therefore can all those who have an email address please contact me on.

www.sportnetwork.net/main/s204.php
If you place any info on the message board remember this can be viewed by anyone and reflects on the club, any offensive or improper info will be deleted also remember the laws of libel etc. still apply.
The newsletters will also be published on the site.
News From the AGM
All the existing officials were re-elected except for the following. Jacky White resigned from the management committee.
Ben Holmes was elected first team captain with Paul Linacre as vice.
Phil Bennett second team captain with Paul Osborne as vice.
Adam White third team captain with Jamie Fellows as vice.
The financial situation was discussed at length. The club made a small profit but the lack of use of the club facilities in the winter months caused concern. The club have also been inspected as part of the Lottery process, they are pleased with our progress but have made a recommendation that we must set-up a contingency fund to be able to replace facilities when they ware out e.g. The artificial wicket.
The main changes were the increase of senior players subs to £35 (£30 if paid before 1st May) Concessionary and students £17.50 (£15 if paid before 1st May)
Match fees were unchanged again except that junior match fees were increased to £1 per game,
and Sunday match fees were changed to £2 for all (instead of £1.50 and £4)
It should be noted that these are still one of the lowest fees in our area. Training sessions outdoors continue to be free.
Winter Nets
Winter nets start at Cricketal on Sunday 2nd Feb at 3pm until 4:30pm. Two lanes have been booked all players who have played in the 3 senior teams are welcome along with any new senior players (the cost is divided between those attending).
Forthcoming Events
The club are again proposing to run a race night. We are hoping to organise this ourselves this year and hopefully the film quality will be considerably better than last..
We hope to run the event in late March early April before the season starts. The night will consist of 8 races followed by an auction race. Race sponsors are required for the 8 races at £10 per race. Each race will have 8 horses which can be purchased for £2 per race, the owner of the winning horse will win a small prize.
Anyone wishing to purchase a horse or sponsor a race or who works for a company wishing to sponsor a race please contact Graham via the email address above or give me a ring.
Junior News
Winter training is ongoing at Heritage, many children have gained their Bronze or Silver awards and these will be presented at an informal get together at the club.
We are hopeful of entering teams at Kwik, under 12s, under 13s and under 15s this year Phil Bennett is again doing the 15s, Paul Linacre is running the Kwik and going to the under 13s matches, Graham is running the under 12s who will train with the under 13s.
All the managers would welcome any assistance from players parents etc. Anyone wishing to take coaching qualifications etc should contact any of the managers ASAP.

Fantasy Cricket
Adam, Phil and Jamie are trying to set up a Fantasy Cricket competition for the forthcoming season. Details of this are available on the web site and you can print a team sheet if you wish to enter a team. This is a fun competition with all monies being paid out in prizes. Draft rules are as follows
TEAM SELECTION
SCORING
BATTING
BOWLING
FIELDING
Player’s scores will be taken from their first game of that weekend. For example if Matthew Linacre plays for the 2nd team on Saturday and the 3rd team on Sunday then only his scores for the Saturday game will count. If the 1st and 2nd teams have a double weekend then points can be scored for both days. Cup games also go towards player’s scores.
TRANSFERS
3 transfers will be available to each team at any time throughout the season.
ENTRY FEE:
£5 (we hope to get at least 30 participants and this will give us Total Prize money of £150 anything above this total would be a bonus).Prize distribution depends on how many people take part, First prize and runner up or a monthly winner could get a prizes.
All entries must be handed in to Adam White, Phil Bennett or Jamie Fellows before the 26th of April 2003 (the first game of the season.)
The above 3 names will adjudicate all scores and any other rules not stated throughout the season and their decision is final!!!
