Tomo Wins Pool Competition.
Held on Saturday the 18th of January
The evening started in true Clowne Town Cricket club style with Chig, Swanny, Polly, and Phil B along with 2 guests (Nathen and Richard - Who will hopefully be joining the club for the new season) trying to get the beer pumps working. All of whom struggled to get the beer flowing. So we had to make do with the bottled beer until The Cat arrived and rescued the situation.
After a few beers and the arrival of a few more people, it was decieded that the Pool Competition would be a straight knockout.
The first game of the night involved the ever defensive Phil B, thinking it was the length of time you spend at the table opposed to how many balls you pot, sound familiar?. However he managed to send Richard to sleep and claim the win.
The 1st round went passed with no real surprises with Pool shark Tomo beating Chalk and the old pro Cat making light weight of Nathen. Chig overcame a determined Swanny who then had more time on his hands to neck more cheap beer. Rhodes overcame the Snake with Polly doing the same to Doughty. Snips and Nigel also made a comfortable starts with wins over Mr Nut and Brick respectivley.
The 2nd round was best of three frames, and produced some good games. However the shock of the round was when Rhodes beat Nigel for the first time ever! Even more surprising when you consider Rhodes drinking habits, however he managed to overcome the drink in this game anyway. The Cat beat Ian in a cool and calm performance (He must have played before.) Tomo continued his good form to sweep past Polly. Then it was left to Chig to put Phil B to the Sword in the final game of the round.
In the Semi Finals Tomo found himself up against Chig. Both players produced some good shots in a tactical game which saw Tomo progress to the final. In the other Semi Rhodes found himself in all sorts of trouble, not with his oppenent but with the copious amounts of ale he had drunk. Therefore it was of no surprise to see The Cat progress to the final.
The final produced a good game with The Cat taking the first frame easily however Tomo then found his form to take the next two frames, taking the last in style with an 8 ball finish.
So all in all it was a great nights entertainment, thanks to all of you who came. We will be holding similar nights in the future so come along next time!
