HYTHE & DIBDEN COLTS CRICKET

COLTS REVIEW - WEEK 8 - 22ND JUNE.

UNDER 17's Vs ALDERHOLT

The Under 17's went into this match minus key players - Richard Last and Tom Porter yet a very good bowling display from Ben Smith 6-12 well backed up by some top fielding, reduced the visitors to 88 all out.

Hythe then cruised to victory thanks by 6 wickets thanks mainly to in form Russell Moore 39 and well supported by Matt Howe 16.

Hythe's second victory of the season and it makes sure that we stay above Alderholt in the league table.

Toss Won by : Redlynch & Hale

Russell Moore won the toss and elected to put the visitors into bat despite not having two key bowlers playing in Richard Last and Tom Porter.

Moore opened the bowling himself with Lee Powell taking the second over down hill. The two struggled early on as the Alderholt openers hit 30 off the first four overs.

Heads didn't go down though and Moore was rewarded in the next over with the first wicket. Ben Smith was then introduced into the attack and immediately destroyed the middle order taking 6 wickets in his four overs. He was well supported by the fielders as James Page and James Carse held onto good catches as well as a catch from Lee Powell which was top draw. Matt Howe also chipped in with two stumpings and Pete Stevens and James Carse 2 chipped in with wickets as Alderholt were bowled out for 88 in the 16th over.

In reply Hythe batted very sensibly picking of the singles where possible and punishing the bad ball. They lost James Page 3 early but Matt Howe 16 and Russell Moore 39 showed their experience in taking Hythe close to their target. Hythe had a little blip where they lost 3 wickets in quick succession but Ben Smith 4* and Greg Woods 6* took Hythe to victory with 3 overs left.

A well deserved win.
