21st June Vs MILFORD ON SEA

ITS COMING - The Illusive Win - As The Under 15's Go Down By Just 4 Runs.

The Under 15's travelled down to Barnes Lane Milford for a rearranged league match and found conditions very difficult, with a strong wind blowing across the ground.

The players were also mythed by the unsporting behaviour of the opposition due to the wicket keeper persistantly giving verbals to the batsman and batsman screeming whilst hythe fielders went for cathches.

They still put in a very strong performance with some good catches taken and two run outs before going down by just 4 runs.

Same old story though as the Hythe bowlers bowled 37 wides which in effect cost them the game.

Toss Won by Hythe

Hythe won the toss and elected to field first.

Conditions were difficult with a strong breeze bowling across the ground making it difficult for the bowlers.

Tom Porter put in a good spell of bowling taking 3-12 off his 4 overs.

Harry Smith came on at the end and took 2-9 0ff but the rest of the bowlers struggled to find their line and rythem.

Milford closed their innings on 109 all out which was a credit to the Hythe players but the score was always going to be a challenge for the Hythe batsman.

In their reply Hythe lost two early wickets but Matt Head 21 continued to play sensibly and keep Hythe in the game. Hythe then lost Ben Smith for 8 and you began to wonder if this was a begining of the usual Hythe batting collapse. But Lee Powell 29 not out and Tom Porter 14 not out played very well and took Hythe within just 4 runs of the winning target.
