HAMPSHIRE REGIONAL DIV 3

( SOUTH WEST )

HYTHE 2nd XI Vs RINGWOOD II

Hythe 2nd XI chalked up their second successive win with an impressive 56 run victory at Ringwood.

Hythe made 245 for 2 off their 42 overs with an impressive 124* from ' The Guru ' Sean Tongs

Toss Won by : Hythe

On a very hot afternoon skipper Mike Bowman won the toss and elected to bat first.

Hythe included first team veteran Wayne Effeny in their side which on paper looked a very strong batting line up.

Sean Tongs opened once again with Matt Howe hoping to continue the form of the previous week.

They didn't disappoint as they put on a stand of 114 for the first wicket. Matt Howe went for a fine 38 which brought Effeny to the crease. Effeny 43 and Tongs then enjoyed a partnership of 99 in just 16 overs.

Tongs went on to an unbeaten 124 not out as Hythe knocked up 245 for 2 off their 42 overs. Mike Bowman was unbeaten on 11 at the end.

In reply Ringwood were always up against it and certainly enjoyed charmed lifes as no less than 10 catches went down during the innings. I won't name them as it was such a good result.

Richie Bunce 0-29 off 10 bowled well without any joy but the skipper knows from experience when you need wickets you send on the ' veteran pie chucker ' and once again Chalky White didn't disappoint. He collected 4 more wickets for the season and Wayne Effeny wound back the years taking 3-31 off 8 overs. The bowlers were supported by two stumpings from Gary Howe and catches from Tongs, Bunce and Matt Howe.

Tim Bath and Ewan Bell joined in with two run outs and Hythe collected a full 24 points with just 2 balls remaining in the final over.

A most successful weekend for the club with both teams winning. Keep it going guys.
