Hythes under 11’s returned to earth with a bump on Sunday as they went down by 47 runs to Paultons under11’s.
A bad day at the office all round as batting, bowling and fielding all suffered at picturesque Paultons ground.
Going into the game confident after a couple of wins, Hythes bowlers struggled to get wickets against a side sporting 2 New Forest Colts. Helped by mis-fields, Paultons score kept rising to a massive 264 of 12 overs with only Richard Lever and Kieran Chalmers the only Hythe bowlers to pick up a wicket each this week.
Requiring 16 runs per partnership was always going to be a big ask, but based on previous games not impossible so hythe’s openers set about the run chase.
Paultons automatically went to there better bowlers and Josh and Kieran found it tough to get the ball through the field and finished were they started on 200 after 4.
Nathan and Conner have averaged over 20 in the last few games and although they scored plenty of runs again this week with the bat , a comical run out and Nathan going for one to many shots, [twice] they undid there hard work this week and finished on 204 of 8.
Charlie and Richard Jones followed and again played their normal steady innings pushing the score up to 212 of 12 and losing only one wicket in their 4 overs. [ 8runs the highest partnership this week]
But by now the game was gone and so for Richard Lever and Tom Smith it was hammering time, with both batsman hitting and running at every opportunity. Great entertainment for the Hythe and Dibden travelling posse but mixed in with the shots, both batsman lost wickets and Hythes score finished on 217-7 of 16 overs.
This game will not be remembered favourably so lets just forget it……. But do remember the long barrier lads, it could have saved you 15 runs this game……..its why we practice it every week…
Steve Chiverton takes over the reigns this week at home to Wellow. Nathan and Skipper Charlie take a break as squad rotation kicks in. So the best of luck and parents be nice to Steve…..
Under 11 squad to play Wellow…….. Keiran Chalmers, Josh Mead, Chris Griffin, Richard Lever, Richard Jones, Tom Smith, Connor McKell, Jason Shorto……

Under 15's Vs FAWLEY
Toss Won by : Fawley
Hythe's took to the field again without the Noadswood boys who are away in France Luke Blackwell, Matt Head and Ben Smith.
Lee Powell lost the toss and was then asked to bat first.
Sally Harding swapped the batting order around this week and the batsman supported her by sticking around longer this week.
Young Harry Smith topped scored with 7 not out but a decent score again was denied when top batsman Tom Porter 0 and Lee Powell 5 again failed with the bat.
Hythe finished their innings on 56 for 6 off 18 overs which was never going to be enough for the bowlers to defend but still a vast improvement on last week.
Fawley could afford to be patient in getting the runs required but the hythe bowlers did bowl tidely in the proces. Harry Smith took the two wickets to fall and overall had a very good game.
Fawley got the runs needed in the 11th over and winning the match by 8 wickets.
