UNDER 11 & 15's Results - Wk 2 - 14th May
Kieran 2-9 & 7 runs
Hythe U11's suffered their first defeat of the season to a well organised Lymington 'B' side. Richie Froggett is pleased with the way the team is blending together but recognises the need for the lads to be able to hit the ball harder and play some shots. The U15's crashed to defeat at Bashley.

Sunday 14th May

Under 11 & Under 15's - Week 2

Both sides came up against strong opposition this weekend and suffered defeats

Under 11 Vs LYMINGTON 'B'

Toss Won by : Lymington

The under 11’s lost to a well organised Lymington B side at Milford on Sea on Sunday but to their credit didn’t give up until the last ball was bowled.

Charlie Crane  lost the toss this week and were inserted into bat and it was soon apparent why when Kieran Chalmers was bowled first ball.  To Kieran and opening partner Josh Mead’s credit though it was the only time their defences were breached as they recovered to post a positive score of 207 for the first 4 overs which included some fine shots from the pair of them Kieran finishing with 7 runs Josh with 4.

Nathan Froggett and Connor Mckell followed  and both found it tough to get the ball away but were rock solid in defence and again returned a positive score. 214  after 8 overs

A debut for Jason Short this week, and he was paired with Skipper Charlie but again because of tight Lymington bowling both struggled to put bat to ball and find the boundaries  we so desperately requiered and the score fell to 212 of 12 overs.  Richard lever and Richard Jones were the last pair to enter the affray but having been hit in the stomach with one ball and on the hand  later Richard Jones  dug in to protect his wicket and protect what we had. To their credit they carried the score up to 220 for 2 off our alloted  16 overs . Hoping that the bowlers could do the damage as last week.

Hythe’s bowlers had to wait until the 4th over before a wicket was taken as Lymington’ s openers put bat to ball amassing 17 runs of their 4 overs Debutant  Jason Shorto struck and finished with 1-13 of 2 overs. Connor struck next over , Kieran the next and hope suddenly appeared as wickets were falling.

At 8 overs Lymington stood at 225  At 12 overs 231, wickets were tumbling but Lymington batsman also found the boundaries in greater numbers and when it was all over a total of 249 for 6 was on the scoreboard and the game had gone.

The game may well have been lost but to their credit the Under 11’s have formed a team spirit full of encouragement and beleif and will win more than they lose this year no doubt..

Bowling figures….. Kieran  2-9 of 3 overs, Jason 1-13 of 2 overs, Connor 2-3 of 2 overs,.

Batting Figures….   Kieran  7runs, Josh 4 runs, Nathan 3 runs, Jason 2 runs, Richard Jones 1 run….

Many thanks to Lymington  for allowing  us to use their equipment as Richie totally forgot  ours  and left it in the back of his car back at Hythe’s clubhouse.

Under 15's Vs BASHLEY RYDAL

Toss Won by : Hythe

The games don't get any easier for the Under 15's as they travelled over to Bashley with only 4 lads of the correct age group. All the others are playing well above themselves and credit to them.

Ben Smith won the toss and had to be persuaded by Sally to bowl first to make a game of it.

Once again the vast amount of extras (23) given away by Hythe didn't help their cause and Bashley went onto make 136 for 2 off their 18 overs. Lee Powell was the best of the Hythe bowlers 0-18 off 4 overs.

In reply Hythe were always struggling against a useful Bashley attack. The highest score by a Hythe player was 6 and Hythe finished on 49 for 6 after 18 overs.

Innings of : Bashley 136 for 2 ( 18 overs )
