Vs BURSLEDON

Toss Won by Hythe

Hythe made it 2 wins out of 2 from pre season friendlies with a comfortable 5 wicket win against Bursledon.

Skipper Richie Bunce won the toss and surprisingly decided to gain some bowling and fielding practise.

It was Richie himself who soon had the visitors in trouble picking up two wicvkets in the first 6 overs of the innings.

Both Pete Stevens and Sean Tongs also picked up two wickets before Bursledon innings ended on 142 all out from 37 overs.

In reply Ewan Bell 22 and Paul Whitlock 57* gave Hythe a strong start and despite losing Nardus Grrobler for a duck the reliableWhitlock and Richie Froggett 23 took Hythe to within distance of the victory target.

Vs SKANDIA

All credit to Tony Wood for getting the pitch ready for play after overnight rain.

Hythe lost the toss but after a bit of persuasion the visitors put Hythe into bat enabling enabling us to give players time in the middle.

Simons Wright and Dixon certainly took advantage of the visitors generosity sharing in a stand of 216 for the first wicket. Dixon went onto make 104 whilst Wrighty 96 fell four short of his ton. A quick fire unbeaten stand of 41 by Nardus Grobler14* and Dave Guymer 23* enabled Hythe to declare just one over before tea at 259 for 2.

In reply Skandia were always up against it and Hythe's two young opening bowlers bowled very well Matt Howe 2-11 off 6 and Russell Moore 1-23 off 6. But the best bowling performance was yet to come - watch out Chalky - Luke Mills demolished the Skandia innings picking up 5 for 6 off 6 overs to record his first 5 wicket haul for the club. Sean Tongs also picked up 2 wickets late on to close the Skandia innings at 56 all out.
