Hythe Under 11's vs Wellow & Plaitford
Played @ Houndsdown School
| Hythe Crushed By Wellow |
Hythe Under 11's poorest performance of the Indoor season saw them crushed by Wellow by 5 Wkts on Friday.
Needing a win to stand any chance of making the play-off's - Woodsys team were well beaten by a year older and stronger side. Hythe were asked to bat first and Woodsy for some reason decided to swap the batting order around.
Hythe's most reliable batsman Daniel Duell swatted the first two balls to the side walls for singles and on both occasions could have been caught - next ball bowled by Ball for 2. Caitlin Smith hit a boundary befoe boing bowled by Oliver for 4 - Hythe 10 for 2 off 2. Monty Gilbert & Ben James added 45 for the 3rd wicket - Jones playing some lovely shots before being caught behind by Parsons off Ryan for 9. Gilbert was then run out for 4 before Pates and Dan Jones were out for 0. Hythe all out for 55 on the final ball of the innings.
Bethan & Ryan started positively for W&P - two well run 3's in the first three balls. Dan Jones gave Hythe a chance when he had the dangerous Bethan caught by Pates for 3. W&P 11 for 1 off 1. Pates 2nd over went for 17 with the hard hitting Ryan playing his shots. Cailtns 3rd over then went for 15 inc a Dovery four. W&P now in cruise control 43 for 1 off 3. Monty Gilbert's 4th over went for 10 inc two more Ryan boundaries. Ryan returired 22* and on the first ball of Daniel Duell's 5th over it was game over.
So lots of work for the coaches to do. Hythe have one game left against champions elect O.T's & Romsey - lets hope for a better performance.
