Hythe 3's gained revenge on Braishfield with a final ball win this evening. Played in good spirit with six balls the game looked lost with 22 required but not for the first time this season a fantastic finish.

Gareth won the toss and elected to field first. Ali Bryers bowled the first over Tatnall hitting two singles and a boundary (helped by a Sanderson misfield) - 9 off in total. The Guru was asked to bowl over 2 and it was going til ball 4 & 5 which both went for Brown sixes. 3rd over and Bryers struck for Hythe - a good catch from the colonal dismissing Tatnall for 6. Ten runs come off the rest of the over inc a Brown boundary courtesy of a Saunders mis field. Braishfield 34 for 1 off 3.

Tongs returned with a wide and a single but then had Bowden caught by Bryers for 6 off the ceiling. The dangerous Light wasted no time getting himself in and second ball hit his first boundary - 10 off the over. George Sanderson was brought into the attack for over 4 - a tidy over - a no ball and four singles pushed the score to 51 for 2 off 5. Saunders then bowled a 10 run 6th over which inc a wide 7 no ball. Sandersons next over started well but the final two balls went for 4's for Light. Braishfield 72 for 2 off 7.

Brown retired 25* in the 8th bowled by Saunders which was going well until Hardy hit the final ball for six. 8 off the over. Kev McCarthy was called in to bowl the 9th - 2x4's for Light thanks to a wild throw from the colonal and a misfield. Light retiring 27* with the score on 89 for 2.

Just five off the bat in Saunders 10th over plus 3 leg byes - Braishfield 97 for 2 after 10. McCarthy's 11th over went for 17 - Fahy hitting a six before being run out by Bryers and Hardy hitting 2x4's. Final over Bryers returned 15 off the over and Braishfield finished on 129 for 3. For Hythe Rob Saunders 0-23 off 3 the pick of the bowlers.

Hythe started well in the reply 12 coming off Light's first over. 2 well run 3's and a guru boundary meant the score after 2 overs was 23-0. Brown bowled a good third over - going for just 5. Gareth Mead hit Bowden for 6 with the first ball of the 4th over. Sadly next ball Bowden got revenge caught tatnell for 15. Two singles followed - Hythe 36 for 1 after 4.

Tongs hit Brown for six in a 10 run 5th over which was followed by 8 off Bowdens 6th over. Hythe 54 after 6 at the same stage Braishfield 61. Tongs hit Brown for six in a 9 run 7th over which saw Guru retire 25* and 15 came off Bowdens last over inc a Saunders boundary & Saunderson six. Hythe 78 for 2 after 8. The 9th over saw just 8 added as Hythe found Hardy's slowies a challenge. Light returned a Sanderson 4 assisting for 12 more runs. Next over Braishfield got themselves back in with two wickets in two balls - Saunders well caught by Tatnall off Hardy for 19 , then Sanderson was run out for 19 - Hythe 109 for 3 off 11.

22 required off Light's last over - Bryers started it with a six then two well run 3's by Bryers and McCarthy meant 10 needed off 3 balls. A Bryers run out with a run followed - 9 needed off 2. Light then bowled a wide and when McCarthy run a 3 Hythe needed 2 off the final ball which Light bowled down the leg side & Hythe had won.

Great game and well done to Gareth and his team. A win that should take the 3's into a final 4th place position.
