Hythe Under 11's vs Langley Manor
Played @ Houndsdown School
| Hythe Struggle After No Warm Up |
Hythe Under 11's arrived just 5 minutes before the due start of the game which unfortunately meant no time for a warm. It showed as the young Green Caps gave away 43 in extras out of a score of 90. Hythe made 65 in reply.
Toss Won by : Langley Manor
LM won the toss and as expected decided to bat first. Hythe opened with Dan Jones whose first over went for 9 runs. Catlin Smith bowled the 2nd over - 2 wides and a no ball meant her over went for 8. A tidy over from Andrew Besley went for 6 - LM 24-0 off 3. Dan Duell was unlucky not to get a wicket in the 4th when Ben Jones behind the stumps got to the ball but couldn't hang on Dan's over going for 9. Monty Gilbert bowled the 5th which started with a a good all but after that ball he reduced his run up and brought the ball out of the back of the hand - 15 off the over. LM 48 for 0 at the half way stage.
Dan Jones returned for a tidy 6th (6 off) but the 9 came off Andrew Besleys 7th. For Langley Manor M.Bradley retired 20 * at 73-0 and M.Kimberley 20* soon followed. 12 came off Daniel Duell's 8th over including a 4 from Bundy. Another boundary followed in the 9th off Besley but a decent 10th over by Dan Jones kept LM under a 100 at 90 for 0.
Hythe unfortunately bowled 10 wides (22) & 10 no balls (21) half the amount of their last game vs Wellow. But a good effort in the field.
9 an over needed Dan Duell was back to open the innings and he immeadiatley got into his stride - 3 singles and a wide from the first over. First ball of the 2nd over Caitlin Smith was well caught by Griffin off Bundy for 0 - just a wide coming off the 2nd over. Duell hit a 3 off the third over - Hythe 15 for 0 off 3 overs. Unfortunately for Hythe it was the 4th over when things started to go wrong - A wide and 2 no balls started the over but then Dan Duell was slow backing up to be run out for 7 and next ball last weeks hero Ben Jones was run out for 0.
6 came off Hardy's 5th over Hythe 28 for 3 at the half way stage. 3 singles for Gilbert in the 6th over saw Hythe add another 7 runs but then Monty Gilbert was run out in the 7th for 4. Andrew Besley played some nice front foot strokes to finish 5* and Dan Jones 1* as Hythe took the score to 65 for 4 at the close. Langley Manor winning by 25 runs.
