| Hythe 1's vs Sarisbury Stallions |
| No Surprises as 1's Bow Out Of Indoor Cup |
Hythe 1's were thoroughly swept a side by Division 1 side Sarisbury Stallions last night - Going down by 107 runs.
Matt Howe won the toss and elected to field first against a side 3rd in Division 1 and packed with Southern Leaguers. As soon as Ozzie's first over went for 15 in wides (5x3) you knew it wan't going to be Hythe's day. 'It was a new cherry' Ozzie said - ' didn't know what to do with it - it swung a mile'. Matt Youngs 2nd over was better just 11 coming from it but Mr.Cool 'the Fonz' had ne excuses as his 3rd over went for 20. Sarisbury 46 for 0 off 3 to the delight of the Sway lads on their duty shift.
Time for spin and a decent over from JKO which went for just 8. Matt Howe then had no ball trouble as his over went for 14. 68 for 0 off 5. A wicket was needed and Ozie obligied. The shine was off the ball and he could now bowl straight - Bowling Ingram for 10.That brought Pete Hammond to the crease who wasted no time with 3 sixes. S.Orr at 85 retired 25*. Hythe fought back with the wicket of Dave Banks - Caught by Ozzie Shaikh off Last for 6, Hammond appeared to be heading for retirement when Matt Howe had him caught by JKO for 22. Phil Jewell trouble by a hamstring problem had no chance sprinting for a single and got run out by Howe for 1. Shaikh then bowled Matt Journeaux for 18. Orr returned to smash another six. He finished 34* and Sarisbury 158 for 5.
A good fightback by Hythe but 42 in extars and 24 in no balls was their killer.
13 an over required and Hythe sent in Guymer & Young. 10 came off Pete Hammonds first over including a Guymer six. Dave Banks proved sharp but his first over was laggy and went for 9. First ball of the third over and a wicket - Matt Young ct & bd Hammond for 0. Hythe 20 for 1. That brought in the skipper Matt Howe who knocked off 3 singles in the rest of the over. Banks returned for the fourth over which had Hythe in all sorts of trouble. Guymer walked after the thinnest of knicks went to the wicket keeper Journeaux for 12 and then Richard Last got struck on the foot and then stomach before having his stumps shattered for 0. Double wicket maiden by Banks.
Shaikh joned Howe to add 18 for the 4th wicket before Howe was bowled by Ingram for 14. Not for the first time this season Shaikh then run out JKO for 1. Three more runs were added before Shaikh was stumped by Journeaux off Hammond - Hythe 51 all out. Banks the pick of the Sarisbury bowlers 2-12 off 3 overs inc 12 dot balls.
