Hythe 1's vs Peartree Bees

1's Cause Surprise of The Night As They Beat Leaders

Hythe 1's put in a great display to beat top of the table Peartree by 30 runs - this without Matt Young & Tom Arnold.

Matt Howe lost the toss and was asked to bat first against the league leaders. Some good tight bowling saw Harry Smith & Dave Guymer start cautiously - 18 coming off the first 3 overs. Later both batsman described the bowling as rapid from the opening pair. Guymer hit Gujela for 4 as Hythe began to up the pace with a spate of 3's. After 5 Hythe were 43-0 but next over they were to lose Guymer - run out for 16. Smith hit his 2nd boundary before retiring 26* with the score on 66. Shortly after Fonzy was bowled by Rahim for 0. Matt Howe then went ct & bd for 8 off Venn and Jack Knight-Owen was gudged LBW for a quack.

Ossie Shaikh added late runs with the returning Smith inc a 4. Harry was run out for 31 in the 12th over. Ossie remained 12* as Hythe finished 106 for 5. For Peartree some very good bowling figures - Venn 1-14 off 3, Rahim & Gujela 1-22 off 3 but they will regret the Fletcher over which went for 19 with 18 in wides.

Hythe had to start well and they got it when 5th ball Last run out Doyle for 2 with a direct hit. The third time this season Doyle & Gujela were involved in a run out. Just 2 coming from Smith's first over. 2nd ball of Fonzy's next over Gujela was well caught by Smith for 0. - Peartree 2-2. Rahim joining Parker and the pair added 19 off the next two overs then Matt Howe's 5th over went for 10 Peartree 38 for 2 off 5. With this pair begining to look good Hythe hit back when a direct hit from Shaikh run out Rahim for 8. Parker and Venn then added 30 in 3 overs including a Parker six but just as it was building up for a tight finish - Howe caught Parker off Shaikh for 22.

Peartree now 68 for 4 off 9. Last returned to have Venn caught by Smith for 12 leaving Fletcher to bat on his own. Following a single and a three - Dave Guymer leapt into action like a gazelle to stump Fletcher off Shaikh for 4. Peartree all out for 76 - Hythe winning by 30 runs with a very good fielding display.

Bowling two wickets a piece for Last & Shaikh - Harry Smith the most economical just 9 runs coming form 2 overs.
