| Hythe 1's Strangle Follands With Tight Bowling Display |
After a day of real struggles to get a side - Hythe 1's turned in a fine bowling & fielding display to reduce Follands to 54 for 1 off 12 overs.
Stand in skipper Matt Young won the toss and elected to field first. In D.Newsome & S.Taylor Follands had the experience but maybe not indoors as they styruggled to get the Hythe bowlers away. Ossie Shaikh's first over went for just a Taylor 4 followed by Tom Arnold's for four & Matt Young's for 3. Follands 11 for 0 after 3. Fine fielding from Jack Knight-Owen stopped two definate runs to the wall as Tom Richards joined the attack for a 5 run 5th over. Taylor continued to hit the 3's but couldn't get to the back wall as Hythe stopped everything. Jack Knight-Owen was brought on for the 6th over - despite a couple of full tosses Newsome only got him away for 2 singles. 24-0 off 6
7th over Hythe finally got a wicket when Tom Arnold caught Newsome off Tom Richards for 8. Shaikh, Young & Arnold bowled out their 3 overs each for just 14 total and it wasn't until the penultimate ball that Taylor hit Arnold for six to retire on 28*. Follands 54 for 1 off their 12 overs. For Hythe Matt Young 0-9 off 3 the pick of the bowlers but all round a good bowling & fielding display
Matt Young decided on a Dave Guymer - Jack Knight-Owen opening partnership. Guymer showing his intent with a first ball boundary. Hannah's first over going for 7 - Newsome's 2nd over went for 13 as Guymer hit a six and four. 20 on the board all to Guymer. JKO got off the mark in the third over with two singles and a 3. Clarke's 4th over saw Guymer retiring on 26*. That brought in Tom Arnold - heckled by the Hythe camp to finish it in style 20 came Kimbers 4 balls as Tom hit 2x4's and a no ball six to finish the game after a wide. JKO finishing 6* Tom Arnold 16*. Hythe who now have a rest week have recovered with two wins after two defeats.
