Hythe & Lymington took it to the wire before a Dave Guymer six sealed victory with 3 balls remaining

Hythe were forced into two changes for this weeks game with Lymington - Jack Knight-Owen & Dave Guymer coming in for Harry Smith & Tom Arnold. Hythe arrived as Lymington were playing their first of two games on the evening - boosted by the inclusion of Totton & Eling's Metcalfe brothers.

After seeing off Sarisbury - Lymington lost the toss and were asked to bat first. Josh Metcalfe opened with Cameron Grierson - 12 coming off Matt Young's first over. Knight-Owen was asked to bowl the second over and first ball he took a terrific caught & bowled to dismiss Grierson for 3. A good over for Jack just 7 coming from it. Metcalfe hit Shaikh for a boundary in the third - Lymington 28 for 1 off 3. .

Knight-Owen continued - Ellis hit him for four but the final ball of the over a rush of blood and Guymer whipped of the bails out for 14. Things got worse for Lymington when next over Mike Bowman deceived Griffiths - bowling him for a duck - Lymington 41 for 3 off 5. Metcalfe retired bringing in his brother Sam to join Sutherland. Hythe though were helping the Lymington cause as the ball flew like a ping pong off all walls as Hythe persisted in giving away overthrows. 20 came off JKO's final over and 30 off Matt Howe's first two. Sutherland retired on 101 for 3. He returned & in the penultimate over Sutherland was run out by a great piece of work by Matt Young for 30, Sam Metcalfe was then stumped by Guymer off Matt Howe in the final over - leaving Josh Metcalfe 46* - Lymington finishing on 134 for 5..

36 in wides by the Hythe bowlers an improvement on last week's 47. Mike Bowman's 1-15 off 2 the pick of the bowling.

Hythe got off to a stinker when Matt Young was caught by Josh Metcalfe off brother Sam for 0 - 3rd ball. Howe finished the over however with a six. 12 came off Sutherland's second over followed by 16 off Sam Metcalfe's next - Hythe running off the walls very well. When Sutherlands next went for 21 it had Lymington stalwart Tony Wharton questioning what is going on. Howe retired bringing in Mike Bowman. Hythe 76 for 1 after 6 and up with the run rate. Lymington back in it two overs later - as Griffiths caught & bowled Bowman for 6. Guymer retired at 100-2 but soon after Shaikh had no chance and was run out for 0 - that was quickly followed by Knight-Owen be8ing bowled by Griffiths for 1. - Hythe 108-4 off 9.

Guymer rejoined Howe for the finale and they quickly got back into some fine running. 10 came off the 10th over. Sam Metcalfe bowled the 11th - but 2nd ball Howe was caught by Josh for 30 - Hythe 121 still needing 13 with Guymer batting on his own. Next ball he hit for six, a single and a wide meant that Hythe needed 4 off the final over..

Two dots and a single took it down to 3 in 3 but one final leash and Guymer brought up his fifty with a six and Hythe had won with 3 balls remaining. Lymington will reflect on 45 given away in wides but a good win by Hythe which takes them up the table
