| Hythe 2's vs Peartree Hornets |
| 2's Stay on Unbeaten Roll |
Hythe 2's smashed 172 proving too much for the bees and keeping the Green Caps 100% record in tact.
With the first team having more selection problems than Roy Hodgson, it was a surprise that Captain Saunders had an unchanged side of warriors. The double dilemma of an absent Peartree skipper and Carly's inability to find the coffee shop sent the skipper into panic mode. However, three sugars and a coin flick later and the toss was done, and lost.
The 'B' team were batting. Opening up with his own 'A' team pairing of Hannibal Tongs and BA James, Hythe raced to 103-0 off 6, 70 coming from extras. After a double retirement and 27 from Big Arch and 20 from Moody Bollocks Zac and an outside edge from everyone's favourite Lefty we secured maximum batting points, 172-1. Just poor Kev Mac left to keep the bench warm. He did make a valuable contribution with the scoring as Martin's hieroglyphics couldn’t be deciphered even by the enigma machine.
After a toilet break and a shoulder massage for the umpires sore shoulders we were eager to go. Zac opened up with a shocker, followed by Kev James, with a shocker, 43-0 off 2 overs. South Africa's record chase off 424 came to mind. Que the granddad of the team. Kev Mac tightened things up with an over of straight tight lines that a guardsman would be proud of. Two exocets from Guru and one from Millar got us back in it. Game on!
The Peartree' batsman were still taking runs to the Hythe fielders that were resembling Subbuteo players flicked by David Blunkett. Wickets fell at regular intervals including a Kev James caught and bowled that stuck in between the third and fourth folds of his belly.
Last man stands! With the Guru stamping his feet at every opportunity and Zac questioning every decision it looked hopeless until everyone's favourite Boy's Brigade leader strangled the number six Bundy style with a full toss and he ran, stopped, ran, stopped again, signed, swore and was run out by Zac Millar doing his best Kevin the teenagerimpression. Maximum points to the 'B' team. In the post match interview Kev Mac summed it up simply 'that's over!'
A big thank you to Martin for scribbling in his favourite colour crayon and Kev James for driving his new car. Also big thanks to the league of nations support in Steve and Nick
