| BASHLEY RYDAL vs HYTHE UNDER 9's |
| It's a Bashley Double Over Under 9's |
Hythe Under 9's travelled to Bashley Park for their final league game of the season. Unfortunately Zac's young lads ran out second best by 35 runs to finish the season with 5th with a 4-5 record. Bashley finished second behind Langley Manor.
Bashley elected to ask Hythe to bat first. The opening pair of Andrew Besley (-8) and Noah Vaughan (+3) finished their 4 overs losing just one run @ 199-2. Caitlin Smith (-5) and Joe Mould (+2) improved the score to 204-3 by the half way stage. Alfie Pates and Ben jones needed a good knock. It started well with Alfie hitting the games first four but it wasn't to be his day as he was out 3 times during his innings. Ben Jones though top scored with 12 inc 2x4's as the pair added 14 to the score - Hythe 218 for 6 after 12.
Monty Gilbert & Dan Jones started well enough with 1 run coming off the 13th over but in the next both batsman were out once. Three more wickets were to follow as Hythe finished on 208 for 11. But well done to the Bashley bowlers who bowled very well with S.Presland taking 5-10, A.Titcombe 2-4 & J.Hughes 2-10.
Hythe started well in the field with just a no ball 2 off Pates first over. Dan Jones followed that up with a wicket maiden when he had Movory caught by Caitlin Smith. By the end of the 4th Bashley had added another 10 runs but Monty Gilbert caught Movory off Vaughan to reduce the score to 202-2.
14 runs came off Joe Mould's 5th over but another wicket fell in the 6th when Besley bowled Sparshot. Vaughan & Pates followed it up with 2 good overs - Bashley 217 for 4 at the half way stage. No luck for Hythe in the 3rd pairing as H.Bull & J.Hughes added 20 without loss. Hythe then fought back in the final pair as 3 wickets fell. Pates bowled Harris which was followed up with 2 run outs. - Bashley though comfortable winners @ 243 for 7.
Well done to Zac and Pauline for giving the youngsters their first experience of league cricket. Hopefully in 10 years time a few of these guys will be playing First team cricket and look back at these days with fond memories.
