| HYTHE XI vs CLAYHILL DRAGONS |
Monday 27th August
| Bryers Slays The Dragons |
 |
| Ali BRYERS 5-19 |
Thanks to Clayhill Dragons for filling in for the final home game of the season. If they wanted to become our 4th XI next season then this was the ideal opportunity for them to play at Jones Lane and get to know the club. Unfortunately for the Dragons their skipper was delayed getting back for the start and Inzamam Woods was asked to lead his side out.
When play finally got started Hythe batted first - skipper Jonjo Stovell 14 & Dan Pates put on 50 for the first wicket in 9 overs before Stovell was stumped off Steadman for 14. Pates brought up his fifty and put on 94 for the 2nd wicket with Zac Millar. Pates finally went for 78 with the score on 146 off the bowling of Woods. With 15 overs left 260 looked on the cards but Hythe's middle order crashed - fair play to Clayhill for keeping going despite fielding with only 9 for 34 overs.
Millar however was not one of them and reached his maiden club ton off the final ball of the innings - Hythe 223 for 7 off their 40 overs. For Clayhill Matt Young guesting took 3-26 off 7 once again demonstrating how good a all rounder he is.
Clayhill opened up against the bowling of Kev McCarthy & Ali Bryers. Mark Fry's day got worse when he was bowled for 3 by Bryers. McNally was next to go - bowled by Bryers for 3 - Clayhill 12-2. As wickets continued to tumble Clayhill soon found themselves 48 for 5 but a 124 run 6th wicket partnership between Matt Young 75 & R.Winter 36 in 17 overs gave the score some respectability. Bryers however returned to claim his first 5 for for the club and Clayhill finished 54 runs short at 169 all out.
