20 OVERS A SIDE TOURING MATCH
HYTHE XI vs OLD WILLIAMSONIANS (Kent)
Monday 20th August
Hythe Not At The Races vs Tourists
|
Pete STEVENS 3-21
Hythe came out second best this evening not only on the cricket pitch but in the stump race as well which cost a jug of beer.
With Joe Bryers & Nick Gilbert you'd have thought we'd be in with a shout at the stump race BUT I swear we had one more guy than they did.
Regards the cricket - Hythe invited the tourists to have a bat first and owed much of their 165 for 8 to D.Bage 65 and S.Pepper at the death 30*. For Hythe Pete Stevens was the most impressive 4 overs 3-21. Kev McCarthy 2-16 off 4.
Hythe's weakened batting card was always going to find it a tall order especially after losing James Page 7 early. Only Jack Knight-Owen 29 inc 1x6 & 3x4's and Ali Bryers 18* got into double figures. - Hythe 101 for 8 losing by 53 runs. But the oppo were a nice friendly crowd how stayed around for a drink, barbe and the old stump race.
