A cracking evenings entertainment against a good touring side who included several ex Oxford cricketers.
S&L batted first and got off to a slow start against the tight bowling of Sam Long & Ali Bryers 9-0 off 5. By the 10th over they had upped the pace with Kay 21 & Packer 17 taking the score to 30. At 48 two wickets fell in quick succession - both falling to Kev McCarthy who added another a little later.
Packer 29 & Boyle 48* took to the Hythe change bowlers and the visiotrs finished on 168 for 5 off 28 overs.
Hythe's hopes of getting the target rested on the top 3. Shaun Anderson 32 and Jonjo Stovell 13 put on 50 for the 1st wicket in 11 overs but then the Hythe wobble set in going from 50-0 to 63 -5. Martin Duell 10 & Jack Knight-Owen 20 (inc 3x6's) helped the score look better but Hythe were finally all out for 104 against a good bowling attack.
Southwark lost their only game on tour the following evening when they were defeated by Redlynch & Hale. They also recorded wins against Cowes, Northwood, & Wareham
