Hythe Blow Super Chance To Beat Lymington

Hythe Under 15's put in a great final performance before going down to Lymington by 8 runs. Lymington before today had only been beaten just once this season.

Lymington won the toss and had no hesitation in batting first with the experience of Quigley and Felix Ambrose opening up. The home side got off to a cracking start though they did lose Quigley from the final ball of the first over - bowled by Nicholas. But Ali Bryers first over went for 17 and Lymington were 28-1 after just two overs forcing Bryers out of the attack.

Nicholas claimed a second wicket in the third over - bowling Howard-Allan for 4. Sam Long then had Cornwell caught by Pike in the next over and the Green Caps were fighting back. Long's next over was a wicket maiden bowling Moors for 0. At the half way stage Lymington had moved onto 50 for 4 with Felix Ambrose retiring on 43*.

By 12 overs the homeside had moved onto 74 for 4 but the run rate had certainly slowed. Sam Kelly bowling 4 excellent overs 2-6. Ben Fenton came into the attack and took 3-18 as Lymington finished on 89 all out.

With Ambrose saved for the later overs - Hythe saw out the first two overs 6-0 but in the 3rd Carley was caught off Moors for 7. Kelly & Gilbert added 15 before Gilbert was out in the 6th over for 11. Next ball the ever reliable Sam Long was bowled by Moors for 0 - Hythe 25 for 3. Harrison Smith and Sam Kelly then added a very good partnership of 30 in 5 overs to put Hythe well in the game. Lymington reacted by bringing Ambrose into the attack. After a wayward first over he then bowled Smith for 20. Kelly followed - L.B.W to Howard-Alen for 7. - Hythe now 55 for 5 Skipper Alex Nicholas and Ali Bryers added 22 in 3 overs before Nicholas was bowled for 16.

13 needed to win off 12 balls - your all asking why not send in the more experienced Ollie Pike to pull off a famous win - but no in comes Billy Allan. Only 4 more runs were added and Hythe lost by 8 runs in a very good game.
