| Ian PRENTICE 4-14 |
| Tail of Two Halves For Hythe |
Another thrown away game for the Green Caps after a inspired performance in the field reduced high flying Bashley to 99-8.
Hythe then at 50 for 2 not for the first time this season pressed the self destruct button and were 79 all out.
Tom Huxley won the toss and asked Bashley to bat first. First over it was clear that Bashley policy was tip and run and 250 was the first impression. However 3 wickets in 3 overs put a different relection on the match. First Jonjo Stovell had O'Sullivan caught by Sam Page for 4 - then the important wicket of Bash skipper Stubbington with a Stopvell slower ball. J.Ranson was caught & bowled Prentice and when the same bowler had Colbourne & Dukes trapped LBW - Bashley were pondering at 29-5.
Carter joined Kemp and the pair added 11 before Carter became Prentice's 4th wkt. Stovell came off to after an impressive 8 overs 2-22. Drinks Bashley 45-6
Prentice finished with 4-14 to take his tally to 20 for the season. S.Ranson's late arrival meant a number 8 spot for him and boy did Bashley need him. Ranson and Kemp crawled to 79-6 after 30 overs. Hythe did get Ranson when umpire Shrive judged him LBW to McCarthy but the batsman was sportingly asked to stay by skipper Huxley. Trobule is they then added another 20 which was the difference between the two sides.
Page finally got Ranson for 19 then had Kemp caught for 30. Bashley finishing 99 for 8.
100 to win should have been no trouble with Patsey in your line up. But a poor call saw him run out in the 7th over with the score on 14. Stovell soon followed bowled by Dukes for 10. Nick Riley 12 and Tom Huxley 15 then took the score to 50 before both fell in quick succession. Nicholas soon followed - Hythe 60-5. Stevens made 8. Prentice & Gilbert took the score to 75 before Prentcie was bowled for 12 @ 75 for 7 . The last 3 wickets then fell for 4 runs. Hythe beaten by 20 runs.
