Hythe 2nd XI winning run came off the rails at the hands of old foes Ellingham.
Hythe batting first got off to a decent start when Mike Bowman 32 & Sean Tongs 54 added 76 for the first wicket in 23 overs. Wayne Effeny 40 and Kev James 32* boosted the Hythe score to 175 for 4 at the close.
Chalky White got Hythe off to a good satrt in the field as he had run machine B.New caught by Jonjo Stovell for 3. E.Galloway and skipper A.Fedfern took the score to 43 before Galloway was caught by Carley off Edwards for 18. Donoghue then fell caught by Tongs off White for a duck. Ellingham 44 for 3.
An over before drinks Tyler was caught by Stovell off Bryers for 9 - 65-4 at drinks and the game evenly poised. Redfern however had other ideas as he and Warren smashed Bryers & Stovell out of the attack. The 100 came up in the 27th over and the skipper and B.Warren added 77 for the 5th wicket in 11 overs to put Ellingham in control.
Wayne Effeny was surprisingly held back until the pair 32nd over with the visitors needing 30. He promplty removed Warren for 26 with a caught & bowled. Redfern 91* kept his head to see the visitors home in the 38th over. His innings included 9x4's & 1x6. D.Spicer finished 15*
