Report from the Wadebridge website.
An inebriated Hythe & Dibden CC were restricted to 102 all out in the face of a disciplined bowling display by the Wadebridge XI, as the wickets were shared around. John Goulding allied control to his ripping legbreaks to claim 3-25, while Ed Marquis (2-11), Andrew Barret (2-13) James Maycock (1-17), Andrew Tinker (1-28) and Pup Centini (0-4) all offer excellent spells. Bundled out in only 33 of their 40 overs, Hythe only reach 3 figures thanks to the skilled batting of Sean Tongs (32) and Shaun Anderson (16). In reply, Wadebridge openers Caleb Rowe and Rob Centini both fall cheaply to leggie Harry Smith (2-15), and when Anderson (1-38) bowled Nick Lawson, the Swans were in big trouble at 10-3. But John Goulding completely altered the momentum of the match, cuffing Anderson for 8 boundaries in 2 overs. With the scoreboard flying along and the change bowlers showing little threat, even Charlie Ellis (35*) went for his shots, taking 4 boundaries off an R Moore over. Goulding (45) was bowled eventually byBlac kwel for 45.
Wadebridge skipper Carlie Ellis said ' the whole day is what touring cricket is all about. To be honest even with a fairly low score we may still have been in real trouble if our Aussie hadn't taken a shine to yours with the bat! And they batted long enough to not quite leave enough time for a second innings thrash, which might have extended the game. But instead we played a hilarious game of football on the outfield with one of your guys giving commentary on loudspeaker! All of our lads had a really enjoyable day, and it looked like yours did too. If you ever pick Cornwall again to tour (wouldn't blame you in avoiding it after this week's weather - I expect they'll be rained off today!), then we'd be delighted to host you again at Wadebridge any time.
