LYMINGTON 'A' vs HYTHE UNDER 13's

20th June @ Sports Ground

Under 13s Put Up a Fight at Lymington

On what was one of the few sunny days so far this summer captain Tom Ladbury won the toss and elected to bowl first. Hythe opened the bowling with Mould and the first over went down as a maiden and Fay only going for 2 off his first over. The Lymington batsman then sparked with 7 from Mould’s second and then 16 from Fay’s. Carley and Tom Ladbury came on but Sykes was already hitting the ball hard for a quick fire retirement that included 2 sixes.

The first wicket to fall was to Tom Ladbury with a catch from Luke to dismiss Jowett for 17 with Lymington 76-1 after 10. The skipper picked up the second wicket as well with an excellent caught and bowled, one handed, with Ambrose to fall for 19. Swainston and Luke came on to bowl and the Lymington batsman looked bamboozled with the turn that Swainston was getting – 2 wicket less overs that went for 14 runs.

Luke on the other hand had more luck. First he had Evans out LBW for 10, his second was a Caught and Bowled to dismiss Drodge for a duck and then followed up with the next ball to Bowl Chard out again for a duck. Luke finished with figures of 21-3 in what was a fine performance from 3 overs. Mould picked up the final wicket of Chapman for 3. Lymington 127-6 from 18 overs.

Hythe opened the batting with Taylor and Fay and they got off to a watchful start. Lymingtons bowling restricted the scoring options for the openers who were still both batting at the 10 overs mark with the score 34 without loss. It was Taylor who finally fell for 16, stumped off the bowling of Collison. Jessney who was in at number 3 soon followed after being caught for 0 also off the bowling of Collison.

Fay continued and as the Lymington skipper rotated through all his bowlers Fay began to break the shackles. He eventually retired on 33 not out in a classy innings that included 4 fours. Mould and Cooper were left to bat out the overs with Mould scoring four well placed 2s and Cooper picking up his first runs for the club with a good shot through backward point. Hythe 81-2 off 18 overs
