Over the years - Never one of Hythe's most successful of places to play a cup match but Monday saw the Green Caps book a semi-final spot against Fawley thanks to a 11 run win over Mudeford.
Hythe batted first scoring a par 115 for 6 off their 18 overs but their bowling proved too good for the home side - Mudeford finishing 104-8
Hythe won the toss and Mike Bowman had no hesitation in batting. Hythe did however get off to the worst of starts - both Tongs (0) and Bowman (3) going in the first 4overs - Hythe 7 for 2. Wayne Effeny and James Page though then upped the pace adding 57 in 8 overs before Page was judged LBW off Kelly for 18. Richie Froggett fell first ball leaving Hythe 64 for 4. Effeny then was caught off Wakelin for 18 but useful runs at the end by Kev James 11* and Sam Mead 24* inc a six & four took Hythe to 115 for 6 at the close
Hythe opened the bowling with Froggett and Josh Mead who got the breakthrough in the 4th over - having Kelly caught for 2. The two openers bowled 3 each (23 for 1) before being replaced by Wayne Effeny and Richard Last. Tight bowling meant at the half way stage - Mudeford were 36 for 2 after Josh Mead caught Keeping off Effeny for 19. Hythe at the same stage were 46 for 2.
Dodds & Walls added 30 in 5 overs to take Mudeford to 66 for 3 off 13.Mead returned to remove Smith for 1 and then Page run out Dodds for 40. With 3 overs remaining the home side still needed 38. Page's 16th over went for 16 as the home side went for broke. Last run out Elton for 1. With 15 now needed off the final over - Last bowled Ennals for 1.
