| Five Overthrows Prove Costly to Under 11's |
Hythe Under 11's Manager Stewart Smith described the performance as the best this season despite his side going down by 3 runs to Sway @ Jubillee Fields.
Hythe were forced to bat first after a few players were late to the ground - fine !!! Tom Ferrier (+3) & Cameron Stewart (+3) got Hythe off to a steady start 213-0 after 4. Second pairing of Fraser Smith (+7) & Kieran Taylor (+5) added another 15 though Smith lost his wicket once.
Will Ladbury (+3) & John Holloway (+2) kept their wickets in tact to add another 13 - Hythe 245 for 1 after 12. Daniell Duell (+7) & Tom Jones (+7) then took the score to 259 for 2 at the close. Jones did however lose his wicket once.
260 to win for Sway - on artificial wicket Hythe needed to bowl tightly - Fraser Smith gave Hythe a good start taking a wicket and at the end of 4 overs - Sway were 4 runs behind the Hythe score at the same stage. By the half way 8 overs that had increased to Hythe being 7 runs ahead. Sway made that up in the third quarter to start the last 4 overs on identical scores. Sadly 5 overthrows didn't help the Hythe cause and Sway finished their 16 overs just 3 runs head. Good game.
For Hythe Tom Ferrier 0-9 off 3 were the best bowling figures.
