| Pates In Form But Not Enough For Hythe 3's |
Hythe 3's will look back on this game knowing it was a match they should have won.
Batting first they scored 193-4 with Dan Pates hitting a very good 92 not out (inc 10x4's & 2x6's). He was well supported by Nick Shrive 33 & Gareth Mead 31. But with 7 overs to go Hythe were at 162 for 3 and should have without question reached 200 and maximum batting points.
Paultons start was very positive and at 5 overs theyd reached 25 for 0. Stovell got the breakthrough in the 7th over when Shrive caught O'Brien for 10. A second wicket stand of 64 in 14 overs put Paultons in the driving seat as Dickinson reached his fifty but next ball he was bowled by Chiverton. McCarthy bowled T.Phillips and when Prentice caught Ellis off Chiverton for 0 - Paultons were wobbling at 115-4.
Gareth Mead run out M.Phillips 6 and when Prentcie had Lamb caught behind for 19 - Paultons were now 145 for 6. Wides weren't helping the Hythe cause (22 in total) and a 40 run partnership between G.Minnards 35 & Warnken 8 meant Paultons needed 1 off the last over.
Next ball game over and for the second year on the trot Paultons get the better of Hythe - but a game played in good spirit and nice to see a side come with umpire and scorer at this level.
