HYTHE & DIBDEN UNDER 9's
PRE SEASON FRIENDLY
Friday 27th April
LANGLEY MANOR vs HYTHE UNDER 9's
| Under 9’s Gain Match Experience But Come Out 2nd Best |
Playing their final friendly before the league season starts next Friday - Hythe Under 9's batted first at the Indoor School at Hounsdown.
Several changes were made from their first meeting with Langley Manor - to allow the whole squad match experience.
Hythe got off to a tough start as five wickets fell in the first 4 overs. However by the half way stage - Dan Jones & Monty Green had pulled the score back to 217-6 with a partnership of 20.
Andrew Besley & Nyle Crocker then added 21 for the 3rd pair and at 12 overs Hythe had moved onto 239-7. The final pair of Cameron Ovenden & Ben Jones despite being out 3 times kept the score ticking along and the young Green Caps finished on a respectable 238-10 but losing 10 wickets cost 50 runs and an area for improvement.
Taking the field Hythe only had to wait til the second over to claim their first wicket bowled by Besley. Brynn Miles then claimed a second in the 4th over and at the end of the first pairing LM had moved onto 214-2.
Well done to Hayden Cooper who then bowled the only maiden of the innings. Dan Jones then claimed a wicket in the 7th and LM were 225-3 at the half way stage. Four tight overs by the Green Caps followed including wickets for Nyle Crocker & Monty Gilbert and at the end of the 12th over (3rd pairing) LM were 234-5.
Four overs remaining and Hythe had to keep it tight. 3 came off Dan Jones 13th over and in Camerons 14th LM put themselves ahead of the game by taking 9 off. Andrew Besley took his second wicket in the penultimat over but LM added 13 more and won by 20 runs.
A good effort from Zacs lads and they will get better with more experience.
