Hythe Under 11's vs O.T's & ROMSEY
Played @ Houndsdown School
| Under 11's Miss Out on Final Place |
Hythe Under 11s were beaten in the Semi-Final of the Indoor Cup on Friday when they were beaten by O.T's & Romsey by 33 runs. The young Green Caps got themselves into a good position when they reduced O.T's to 63 for 5. Hythe in reply never got going and were bowled all out for 30 in just 4.3 overs
Hythe won the toss and Sam Fenton asked O'T's to bat first. Hythe got off to the perfect start when Tom Jones caught & bowled S.Trodd for 0. Things got better 2 balls later when he had O.T's big gun J.Trodd caught by Fraser Smith for 3. Hythe had two opportunities in the next over for a run out when it would have been easier to hit the stumps than miss.
At 3 overs O.T's had recovered to 23 for 2 through Shapland and R.Wathen. With the first ball of the 4th over Smith had Wathen caught by Jones 23-3. The second Wathen come in at 5 and started taking the game to Hythe. 41-3 off 6 and 57-3 off 8. 9th over and another Hythe wicket when B.Wathen was bowled by Fenton for 17. Jones then bowled Holden for 1 before O.T's ended on 63 for 5.
Sam Fenton 1-11 off 3 included 11 dot balls - great effort whilst Tom Jones 3-15 off 3 included 8 dot balls and overall Hythe did well to only give away 20 runs in extras.
It was a great chance to make the final if Hythe batted sensibly. Sadly though by the first 7 balls - Hythe had lost both openers - Ladbury 1 and Ferrier without scoring. Sam Fenton came in and started hitting the walls and at the end of the 3rd over Hythe had moved onto 24 for 2. James Trodd had to make up for his batting failure and took two more Hythe wickets in the 4th. First Kaitlin Smith was bowled for 3 then Jones caught by S.Trodd for 0. 26 for 5 left Fenton batting on his own but next over he was well caught by S.Trodd off Shapland and O.T's had won by 30 runs.
Good experience for the Hythe lads in what's a great little Indoor league for the Colts. Hopefully we'll be invited back next year.
