Hythe Under 11's vs O.T's & ROMSEY
Played @ Houndsdown School
| Under 11's Lose Final League Game |
In their final league game of the Hounsdown Indoor League - Hythe Under 11s were beaten by O.T's & Romsey by 27 runs. Woodsy now has the challenge to prepare his side for the semi-final play-off's against the same opposition in a few weeks time.
The young green caps went into this final game knowing that they had already made the semi finals of the cup. Skipper Fenton won the toss and elected to bowl first.
Jones opened the bowling and OT’s made their intensions clear from the start picking up 14 off the first over with them running between the wickets. Fenton bowled the second over and after a muted LBW appeal OT’s picked up 9 from it. F Smith bowled the 3rd and he picked up the first wicket of Trodd for 16, well caught by Fenton.
Ferrier bowled a very tight 4th over and picked up the wicket of Holden for 10, caught Jones. K Smith bowled the 5th and after bowling 3 no balls she managed to finish the over well. OT’s had got to 48-2 off 5 overs and looked set for a very big total. F Smith bowled his second over for 9 runs and finished with figures of 2 overs 18-1. K Smith bowled her second over and finished with 22 coming from her 2 overs.
It was then time for Ferrier to step up and really slow OT’s down with a fantastic over that only went for one and picked up a run out at the end, Ferrier's figures 1-6. Fenton backed this up with 2 wickets in 2 balls with his next over and narrowly missed out on a hat trick, Fenton 2-14. Jones struggled in the last over with 18 conceeded from it meaning OT’s set a tough target of 93 to win. Some good work behind the stumps from Ladbury helped prevent OT’s getting to their ton.
OTs: 92-5
Hythe opened the batting with Fenton & Ladbury but Fenton 3 was run out on the second ball of the innings on what was poor calling for a run. Jones joined Ladbury and the pair looked to try and chase the run rate. Ladbury managed to pick up a 4 with over throws. It was Jones 4 who fell in the 5th over with a ball that was parried up in the air by the bowler and then caught by S.Trodd.
Ladbury fell in the next over and with Hythe 32-3 in the 6th it looked like it wasn’t going to be their day. It was the Smith pair that were at the crease and they looked to just consolidate and build for the forthcoming semi final. F Smith finish with 8 after being bowled on the last ball and K Smith finished top scorer with 10 not out inc 1 four.
