Hythe 2's vs Pylewell Park
 |
| Saunders Efforts In Vain As Hythe 2's Slip Up |
Hythe 2's ended their Indoor season with a disappointing 1 run defeat at the hands of bottom side Pylewell Park. Even a determined 38 from Rob Saunders couldn't help the Green Caps.
Once again Bellie lost the toss and Pylewell decided to bat because big hitter M.Stirling thought it was a 6pm start. Gates and Woolgar put on a gritty 56 for the first wicket before Chiverton removed Woolgar for 19, Twenty were then added for the second wicket as Hythe just missed out on several run out opportunities - Saunders bowled Gates for 23 and Doe soon followed - run out by Bryers for 18. Hythe best bowler - Ali Bryers removed Tranter & Kennedy before Stirling showed up for the final few overs to score 13* - Pylewell ending on 116 for 5.
Hythe got off to the worst possible start when leading run maker Zac Millar was run out without scoring. Bell and Froggett took the score to 37 before Froggett was run out for 8. Bell as then bowled by Doe for 19 and Hythe were in trouble at 48-3. Bryers and Saunders began the recovery adding 40 before Saunders retired 25*. Bryers then fell for 13 with the score on 101 and Chiverton run failed to get back in his crease to be run out for 8 leaving Saunders to get 12 to win in 9 balls. Two fours meant he needed 2 to win off the last over but Woolgar's first ball bowled him - Hythe lose by 1 run which meant a 4th place finish.
Well done to Pylewell for keeping going and recording their 2nd win of the season. Well done to Bellie for his superb organizing skills once a again.
Thanks to Matt for umpiring and Sean for scoring.
