The under 14s indoor team faced a rematch against after crashing out the cup 2 weeks before hand. Skipper Gilbert lost the toss, again, and the Green Caps were put into bat.
Hythe Opened with Pike and Gilbert with the first wicket falling on the third ball of the first over. Gilbert was run out without facing, diamond duck, 0. Kelly came out at number 3 and looked to build with Pike, the put on 28 together before Pike was run out for 6 and left Hythe 33-2.
In at 4 was Fenton, he and Kelly again looked to build they put on 23 together before the next run out came, Kelly gone for 9. Debutant Carley joined Fenton at the crease but he didn’t last long, again run out for 3. Last man out was Knight-Owen and to be fair he was unlucky, getting a good ball from the left arm spinner, into his second over (back to back) in a row, that took the top of off stump for a duck. Fenton who looked the most at ease batsman at the cease fell soon after, run out by default for 11. Hythe 69 All Out
With a low score set and Hythe failing to bat out the overs it was over to the bowlers to see if they could salvage some pride. Fenton opened the bowling and started well with 7 off the first over. Pike bowled the second and went for 10. During Fenton’s second over batsman Tulk picked up and injury as he slide in at the non-strikers end and looked to have hurt his shoulder, he retired hurt.
The only wicket that did fall was to Fenton, caught and bowled Bampton for 12. Pike bowled his 3 overs for 32 and Kelly had just the 1 over that went for 11. Carley and Knight-Owen did not bowl. Hythe lost by 5 wickets, mainly down to poor backing up and running between the wickets. OTs 71-1
