Hythe Under 11's vs LANGLEY MANOR

Played @ Houndsdown School

After Bramshaw pulled out of the Hounsdown Indoor Colts League Hythe were asked to get a side together and play a friendly against Langley Manor. Sam Fenton was named captain of the side and at the toss managed to win to put Langley in to bat.

Tom Ferrier bowled the 6^th over and bowled with good pace with the batsman tested by the good balls. Ferrier bowled 2 overs which went for 14-0 and also showed great effort in the field. Jones bowled 3 overs and picked up the wicket of Ponting, clean bowled for 2 with him finishing with figures of 12-1. Fenton who also bowled his 3 overs finished with figures of 9-0 in what was an impressive Hythe bowling performance. Langley Manor 57-1

Hythe opened the batting with Keiran Taylor and wicket keeper Will Ladbury. Unfortunatly Taylor was bowled 3^rd ball for nothing which meant that Tom Jones came to the middle. Jones and Ladbury who like all the other players for Hythe were completely new to indoor cricket began to work out how to score runs and build a partnership.

Jones showed with his shot selection that he is certainly a player too look out for next season but it was the big shot trying to go over the top of mid-on that got him out for 6 in a partnership that was 31. Fenton walked out at number 4 with Hythe needing 25 to win. Both players attended an indoor cricket training session on Monday and Richi Froggett’s words about backing up and running between the wickets had stuck.

In what was sometime precarious running they eased Hythe home with 1.5 overs to spare. Ladbury finishing 11 not out and Fenton 7 not out. A big thank you must go to all that played and the parents. Thanks also to Chiv for scoring as well.
