4. Secretarys Report: For obvious reasons both on and off the field 2011 was one to forget. Hassle with the Football and Council didn't make it enjoyable at all. Well done to everyone for pulling together and toh the 2nd XI who gave us something to cheer about at the end of a difficult season.
- I would like to thank Brian Marwood for all his support during the season following the loss of the two Tonys. It was much needed and appreciated.
- The disappointment of seeing our 1st XI relegated will hopefully turn to joy in the next few years when we bounce back.
- Well done to Matt Howe for all his hard work in his first season as skipper.
- Thanks to Rob Saunders for keeping the Sunday side going and encouraging colts to play.
- Well done to Sam Mead who unexpectedly lead the youngsters to a Tony Woodhouse Trophy.
- As for the 3rd XI it was a tough old season where we used 29 players in total and had to deal with Northys mood swings when things weren't going right.
- Well done to the lads for sticking together and avoiding relegation - something Woody would have been proud of.
- The support we had from the colts parents was exceptional especially after losing Woody. Thanks to the two Paulines but especially Val & Gareth Mead whose support was in valuable.
- Thanks too to the Guru was all his hard work on the square and Mike & Dawn with the bar. Without the endless trips to Makros we wouldn't have such a well stocked bar. Finally there's Woodsy - for a guy who plays very little cricket the lad has put in a great amount of work for the club and we should be thank ful.
- On ending I would just like to ask that as a club we keep moving forward and that needs help from everyone..
5. Treasurer’s Report:
- Financial figures were sent round for people to look it. Club despite spending well this year is still in a healthy position.
- Financial figures available if anyone wishes to view them - ask Chiv.
- There are quite a few hefty bills to come out in the next few weeks.
- We have put the paper work into the bank asking for our account to say Hythe & Dibden Cricket Club. So it doesn't mention sports club.
- The Bank Manager has promised to look at the Bank Charges we've occured over the years Tony had us as a Business Account and not a Sports Club Account.
6. Welfare Officers Report :
- Sally Harding said everythings in order..
- Sally needs to send out CRB Checks.
7. Subscriptions for 2012
Subscriptions will remain the same. As Richie says we are one of the cheapest cricket clubs around to play for.- £30 for adult member, rising to £40 if not paid before 1/6/2011, £15 for colts rising to £20 if not paid before 1/6/2011.
Match fees will stay at £5 for adults, £3.50 for colt playing in adult match and £1 for colts games. This was passed.
Family Subs - 2 kids in the same family - £25 - 3 kids in the same family £35
Associate Cricket Membership, as a social membership to the cricket club from 1/5/2011 to 31/8/2011 at a cost of £5. .
8. First Team Captain’s report: Matt Howe read - We knew it was going to be a difficult season and so it proved but there were many positives to come out of it. The batsman struggled with the exception of Matt Young who scored 3 fifties in his first season in the 1st XI. Many players showed potential with the bat but we just needed to kick on and score a big 50. Tom Richards also impressed with the bat.
The bowling performed well throughout the season particlarly when defending low totals. Harry Smith picked up two 5 fors and topped the bowling averages. Russell Moore bowled well but had no luck. Richie Froggett and Tom Richards bowled well throughout the season and Rob Saunders started the season well but was then hampered by a back problem.
Thanks to Rob James for vice captaining. Anne Howe and Sue Froggett for the teas. Trevor Vaughan for umpiring and everyone at the club for all the support that has been given this year in difficult circumstances.
7. Second Team Captain’s Report: Mike Bowman read - Started the season without my opening bowlers Edwards / Moore and bat in Matt Young I thought we may have struggled a bit. Things appeared to get worse when Wayne Effeny went down injured after one game.
However it soon became clear that we had the best batting side in the league and could pretty much chase anything down. The batting contributed much to the side with hundreds from Tongs & Dixon. There awere also big contributions from Bowman and Page. Whilst Punchie became our finisher winning 3-4 games (inc a six off the penultimate ball against promotion chasing Ellingham after the sdad loss of Woody). But the revalation of the season had to be Dave Guymer where not only did he contribute to the atmosphere before and during the matches but topped the batting averages with a string of good scores and not outs.
It wasn't all about the batting our bowlers contributed as well. In between the wides Luke Blackwell produced some quality bowling. Jonjo put in some good spells. Lee Powell provided some real quality with his wing bowling backed up by the evergreen Chalky White. The real star though was Wrighty who won the bowling award with his nagging in swing. Punchey looked like winning the bowling prize until a couple of indifferent spells at the end.
Special mention to Ian Prentice and Sam Page who were often dragged around just to get two or three overs in but never let it get them down. Our fielding was generally god but some catches were dropped and this needs to be worked on for next season. In the end we won the league with a 13-3 record only droppin 1 batting point all year. A great achievement considering the circumstances and I would like to dedicate our win to Woody who I am sure would have enjoyed the celebration ! I would like to thank the 3's for their support and to Dawn, Ann and Becky for all their hard work.
Finally next season will be my 10th as captain - I do plan to resign at the end of next season.
8. Third XI Captain’s Report: Tony North mentioned that it was a difficult season especially after having such a settled side the year before. With a 4-9 record we not only avoided relegation but jumped above Camelot as well to finish 14th. With 29 players used - many young 13-14 year olds were used and performed well. Just a shame we lost Josh Mead for most of the season with injury.
9. Colt’s Report: Richie reported another fine season from the colts with two sides making it into the New Forest Cup Finals for the first time since 1991.
The Under 11's in the pairs league and coached by Woodsy with help from Helen Fay - finished 4th out of 9 and reached the Under 11 cup final. Tom Knight-Owen topped the batting with Lewie Fay the bowling.
The Under 13's coached by Tom Huxley and managed by Pauline Gilbert - finished 5th out of 13 teams. They also reached the New Forest Cup Final and won the Phil Pick Trophy in fine style. Skipper Ali Bryers represented the District side. Tom Ladbury produced the second best colts bowling figures this century with a 6-9 vs Sway.
The Under 15's coached by Richie and managed by Sue finished 7th out of 12 teams. Zac Millar (who also played for the District Side) topped the batting averages whist Alex Nicholas topped the bowling.
The Under 17's skippered by Matt Young and run by Matt and Pete Stannett - finished a respectable 8th out of 10 teams. Harry Smith topped the batting and his two fifties helped him become the leading colts batsman to have played for the club this century. Kieran Chalmers won the bowling award.
Richie thanked Sally for her work as Welfare Officer and thanked all the coaches and managers..
Richie said the Colts Section will keep getting stronger. To strive for Clubmark recognition we badly need to put more people through their coaching badges.
Next New Forest Colts Meeting - 24th October.
The Under 14's have entered the South Hampshire Indoor League at Fleming Park.
