HYTHE UNDER 13's vs LYMINGTON 'A'

Under 13's Loss In Final No Disgrace As Lymington Win The Treble.

No cup upset in the Under 13 cup final as Lymington proved too strong for Hythe. But Huxters lads can hold their heads up high - they had a good season - finishing 5th in the league and winning the Phil Pick Trophy.

Lymington's 135 for 4 was always going to be a tough ask for the Green Caps and Hythe looked rolled over after a Ambrose hat-trick had them 23 for 7 but Sam Kelly 36* and Tom Ladbury 25 at least meant Hythe could go home with their heads held high.

On an overcast afternoon a good Hythe contingent turned up to watch the second cup final of the day. Lymington elected to bat first and were soon into their stride 23 coming off the first 4 overs. Hythe did however get a breakthrough in the 7th over when Bryers caught Marshall for 9 off Jake Larkin. M.McGregor reached his 30 in the 9th over and had to retire and at the half way stage Lymington were well placed at 67 for 1.

Sam Kelly proved the most economical of the Hythe bowlers and got his reward in the 14th over when he bowled A.McGregor for 10.- Lymington 93 for 2 off 14. Kelly then produced a stunning catch to remove F.Ambrose for 26 off Larkin. Ollie Pike the bowled Evans for 0 but a late ralley saw Lymington finish on 135 for 4. Sam Kelly finished with a comendable 1-13 off 4 whilst Jake Larkin took 2-30.

Hythe's reply got off to the worst of start when Archie Gilbert was caught off Howard-Allen in olny the second over for 4. Next over and the Hythe skipper Ali Bryers was walking back to the clubhouse - bowled by Ambrose for 0 and when he removed Pike for 2 - Hythe were 15 for 3.

Things got worse in the 7th over when F.Ambrose produced an excellent hat-trick. Jacob Mould was judges LBW for 2 then Freddie Molyneux and Ben Fenton got first ballers. Next over Larkin was caught by Drodge off McGregor for 0 and Hythe were 23 for 7. As in the league game between the two sides - Sam Kelly came in and smashed the ball around the park - well supported by Tom Ladbury.

In the 16th over with the score on 67 - Kelly retired on 30 only for new bat Harry Swainston to follow- stumped for 0. Tom Ladbury was bowled by Hills for a very good 25 which brought Kelly back to ther middle for the final few overs but Lever was bowled by Howard-Allen in the final over for 5 and Hythe finished 90 all out.

Lymington winning by 45 runs and adding the New Forest Cup to their South Division League Title and the Play-Off Title.
