New Forest Cricket League

Finals Day

This Saturday 3rd September @ Langley Manor

Hythe Youngsters Go For Glory This Weekend

What a day in store for Hythe & Dibden Cricket Club - It was 1991 the last time Hythe & Dibden had a Colts Side in a New Forest Cup Final - This season our two youngest sides the Under 11's & Under 13's have both made it through to their respective finals.

Both sides will be rank outsiders as they play two of the biggest Colts sides in the Forest but you never know. Well done to Woodsy, Helen, Tom & Pauline for getting the lads this far.

New Forest Under 11 Cup Final

10am Start

HYTHE UNDER 11's vs BASHLEY RYDAL

o~o~o~

Hythe and Dibden Under 11s prepare to take on Bashley in the New Forest Cup Finals this weekend.

The young Green Caps route to the final has not been the easiest, taking on teams that play 11 a side every week in all three rounds. Throw into the mix playing clubs like New Milton and Wellow and the achievements by the under 11s is even more impressive.

The under 11s finished 4^th in their League winning 4 and losing 3 (Pylewell, Sway and Beaulieu). The current run is 4 wins in a row and the Green Caps will be looking for 5 on Saturday. Bashley on the other hand won all 6 of their league games and went on to win their 11 a side league without dropping a single batting bonus point. Add to this the defeat Hythe suffered in the 6 aside at Bashley, Hythe only scoring 9 runs, I have to say Bashley will walk into the final as favourites.

In what has been a difficult year for the club firstly with the passing of Tony Woodhouse and Terry Doel and then the tragic passing of the club chairman Tony Wood the under 11s will be looking to show that the colts Woody encouraged are able to strive for success. A big thank you has to go to everyone that has helped with the Under 11s this year and to all the parents for their support.

Under 11s Manager, Helen Fay, has been impressed with the lads development over the past 4 months. Helen has also learnt a lot about cricket as well, including what bowl-ed means. There has certainly been a change in the side that conceded 110 wides against sway, faced a thrashing from local rivals Beaulieu or the 2 run defeat at Pylewell. All of these losses the lads have been able to learn from and have been able to improve in the subsequent games.

New Forest Under 13 Cup Final

1pm Start

HYTHE UNDER 13's vs LYMINGTON

Hythe and Dibden Under 13s Look to Last Meeting Against Lymington For Inspiration.

Hythe Under 13's know their task on Saturday is a tough one against unbeaten Lymington - however they will take inspiration from the league meeting with the Linnetts where they lost by just 12 runs @ Jones Lane. With a little more positive batting in the middle innings they could have pulled off a shock win.

The Under 13s finished 5^th in their League winning 4 and losing 5 of their respective matches. After three straight wins they came unstuck in their final league game against Langley Manor YET thrashed them four days later in the Phil Pick Trophy. So you never know what your going to get with Huxters side but a performance like the Phil Pick match and they could beat anyone.

If anyone deserves a trophy its Tom & Pauline. Over the past two seasons no colts club in the Forest will have played more games such is their committment to the players. Lets hope the players reward them.
